Why is it that when some people do something careless and dumb that results in costly damage their immediate response is to laugh? Genuine question
117
u/Coffee_Huffer Mar 21 '23
You can't control what happens, but you can control how you react to it. You can either be mad, or you can have a laugh. Either way the TV is still busted in the end.
33
u/esmithedm Mar 21 '23
No, not true, he had complete control, he just is too stupid to foresee exactly what was going to happen. This crap is totally predictable.
The smile at the end, That's zero IQ for you.
28
u/Coffee_Huffer Mar 21 '23
I believe the original question was more general. And I do not disagree things could have gone differently.

7
u/JctaroKujo Mar 22 '23
not true. its a type of response to fear and shock, kind of similar to when people who are nervous starts smiling. This isnt “having a laugh” lol.

u/cucumbersan Mar 22 '23
Um no it’s coz he wants to look cool in front of the audience that he is filming for. I know what you mean but you are giving this guy too much credit
22
18
u/trashbag-un-actual Mar 21 '23
Is he supposed to fucking cry?
8
u/Compressorman Mar 22 '23
There is a large range of responses that exist between laughing and crying.
12
10
u/GrowrandaShowr Mar 22 '23
I feel like nervous laughter is a common response after doing something foolish.
10
u/RecoverMaleficent944 Mar 21 '23
Because they can afford to replace whatever they broke
9
u/Compressorman Mar 21 '23
This is not the correct answer. I see people doing foolish things in videos that destroy OTHER people’s property. And it is often fairly obvious that they don’t intend on paying anything.
5
u/RecoverMaleficent944 Mar 21 '23
You know someone’s intentions by watching a video. How well do you think you know the guy in this video? Well enough that you know his intentions?
4
u/Compressorman Mar 22 '23
I didn’t say this guy was an example of that. It is very common to see people end up destroying public property like building windows or bathroom fixtures. It is easy to believe that someone jumping on a sink in a store or club until it breaks off the wall (and laughing about it) is not immediately going to seek out the owner in order to make reparations
2
u/putin_my_ass Mar 22 '23
Hey now, he's an expert, he watches hundreds of videos a day!
Sometimes, he even leaves his basement and sees things in real life.
9
u/tubfgh Mar 22 '23
You never heard of nervous laughter?
0
u/Compressorman Mar 22 '23
Of course but it is not universal. Which is why I wondered why ‘some’ do this
1
2
4
u/just_another_laaame Mar 21 '23
It didn't always use to be like that. In the old days people didn't know how to show their emotions so they would just get mad for everything. I actually prefer it when people can show more than one emotion. Also what else are they supposed to do? Start crying like a bitch? Dumb shit is funny. So why not laugh?
-1
u/Compressorman Mar 22 '23
I don’t know?….. how about be remorseful over destroying other people’s stuff
1
u/Grimgorky Mar 22 '23
Why are you being downvoted? Are there this many asshole friends here feeling offended? Keep seeing it again and again and again. And when for some reason shit get‘s worse when a camera is involved. When you mess up someone else’s stuff you don’t laugh. That’s disrespectful AF. Instead an instant apology and an offer to replace it is the way to go.
1
3
u/PHAT64 Mar 22 '23
Because they are fucking idiots and are trying to make the situation more about them than the damage they did.
3
u/Slapinsack Mar 22 '23
I think because they know there's a camera on them. They don't want us to know that they feel stupid and upset.
2
u/Haagenti27 Mar 21 '23
Yeah back in the days people had an" oh fuk i did something stupid" Face showing remorse. Nowadays its more like a "who cares"
2

u/LordsWF40 Mar 22 '23
Its called being over privelaged...where i from tv is sooooo expensive and incomes are low. So destroying one like that is punishable by death (im exaggerating of course but u get the idea). So the fact that he is laughing and finds it funny is because replacing that is NO PROBLEM what so ever
1
u/Dull_Bumblebee_356 Mar 22 '23
Maybe there’s some psychological reason like thinking “if I laugh at my fuck up, maybe others will laugh too instead of getting mad at me” cause if he was alone he’d probably be pissed and not laughing at himself.
1
u/czl Mar 23 '23
Many show their front teeth while laughing thus when you are down and vulnerable that instant reaction may have scared enough predators and foes away that evolution now favors it?
Ps his front teeth may have ended up inside that metal cage so a damaged TV is by far not the worst possible outcome here.
1
u/Corno-cracker Mar 24 '23
It's nervous laughter. Most times people don't control it and it's like milliseconds after the act before the regret can set in the brain
1
u/CDBeetle58 Apr 01 '23
Because with adrenaline also comes the dopamine and, to many people out there, life is pretty good at denying them their precious dopamine. So, uh, they go ahead and act up instead of creating dopamine through more boring but safer means.
0
u/geofox777 Mar 22 '23
Laughter is a common sign of submission and a way of dealing with not knowing how to deal with something
1
u/Grimgorky Mar 22 '23
So? That’s not an excuse at all. Even completely drunk you should be able to figure out that after you damaged someone else’s things you apologize. And not laugh at that person. That is just clearly disrespectful. The fact that so many people don’t know what to do in normal situations is concerning.

That face tells me it’s not their tv and they really don’t care
11
u/jakob767 Mar 22 '23
I think he hasn't noticed it's broken yet.
5
u/Dull_Bumblebee_356 Mar 22 '23
He looked directly at it after the fall
3
u/Leomavrick Mar 23 '23
Why are you getting downvoted when he clearly looks at the TV after falling. Reddit is something else

Nah, the issue is that this clueless fool screwed the pole into drywall.
Speaking as someone who actually had a stripper pole in his first apartment, you need to use very strong bolts and secure the pole to the ceiling joists and preferably a floor joist if you can find one under your flooring.
You also will definitely not get your security deposit back.

The absolute worst place to land. First he smashed his TV then he smashed his ribs on the metal corner of that dog cage
1
u/ineedadayjob Mar 22 '23
I wouldn't have been smiling if I broke the TV, but i wouldn't have ever been on a stripper pole either. So that is that.

Instantly smiling cause he has created content. That’s ridiculous. I would be sad instantly for breaking the television.
9
u/MrRugges Mar 22 '23
Or…maybe the guy is glad he didn’t break his neck?
2
u/0cmDick Mar 22 '23
Then why is he almost butt naked on the internet?
2
u/MrRugges Mar 22 '23
There are so many things you could ask instead but you choose to question his choice of clothing?

u/crw201 Mar 22 '23
People often record themselves when trying to learn an activity in order to watch themselves. Who's to say he was just recording a video for himself when this happened, and he uploaded his fail to the internet? People have shared videos of "epic fails" since before the internet.
1
u/0cmDick Mar 22 '23
Yes and he was smiling after breaking a tv that costs 800. Totally funny
1
u/crw201 Mar 23 '23
I don't think TV's cost that much anymore. Also, sometimes that's someone's natural reaction.
You are simply just a hater lol.

u/PoopiestOfButtholes Mar 21 '23
I'm sure his father had this in mind, holding him as a baby.

That's where you're an idiot, I never expected to be taken seriously 🤣

It's hella gay.
3
u/Zealousideal_Bet_248 Mar 23 '23
I wanna see a dude on a stripper pole. You also seem to have a very strong reaction to a video that wasn't even sexual. Are you sure you just don't want to see that because it's making you feel things?

u/Cjkgh Mar 21 '23
A dude on a cheap stripper pole, yah ok. It’s not spinning too fast that went wrong here

Did he get a little poop on his leg when he crashed into that animal cage, or did he involuntarily release his bowels due to the force of impact?

We are coming for all the women’s jobs. If you speak against it you are a bigot.
4
4
u/spectre1210 Mar 22 '23
Have you tried coping harder, dog?
1
u/TheClearMask Mar 23 '23
WoW original. I’m not wrong through. Women were making progress fighting patriarchy. Now thanks to this class men will be taking back the job under the guise of equity
4
u/spectre1210 Mar 23 '23
World of Warcraft? What's that got to do with anything?
Lol yeah, it's this guy that's holding women's progress back. Certainly not the incels screaming about their Dunning-Kruger interpretation of feminism, or old, white, male politicians....nope, just this single guy using a dancing pole....
I've got three bridges that cross the Pacific BTW, you looking?! Or you could continue (trying to) coping!
