That's ~6.5 feet for any fellow Americans measuring in freedom units.
23
u/WestleyThe Mar 22 '23
1-3 meters is easy to convert to me
Once people start saying stuff like “16 meters away” and shit that’s when they lose me ha
11
u/Fiftyfourd Mar 22 '23
For a loose estimate just multiply the amount of meters by 3. The actual multiplier is around 3.26, so it'll at least give you an idea of what the distance is.

Thanks for this. I can only approximate via American football yards to such a degree of accuracy.

K but how many bananas, cows, bicycles, cars, footballs or Carloses?
1
u/TUTailendCharlie Mar 22 '23
We accept anything that isn't metric: refrigerators, bath tubs, Eagles, etc.

u/everythingisreallame Mar 21 '23
Complete guess here, but maybe it’s like doing exercises on one of those half rubber balls. Maybe it improves the swing somehow. Or maybe they’re like fuck it, let’s hit it off this floating piece of wood.
Also insert Seinfeld Titlest old man returning soup at a deli quote.
2
u/Cel_Drow Mar 21 '23
Most of those bosu ball exercises are just as dumb and meaningless as this was
11
u/everythingisreallame Mar 21 '23
Can’t speak for actual exercises but they did help my ankle out a lot in rehab from ligament damage.
3
u/Cel_Drow Mar 21 '23
Yeah for sure, they’re designed for rehab and balance work and they do fine for that purpose. Social media has just led to a lot of dummies recommending exercises using them because they are basically click bait in the fitness world

Hitting balls into the water, What an ass Looks good on him

u/bwforge Mar 22 '23
Not saying this guy's using them but their are biodegradable/ edible golf balls ppl take out on boats and hit into lakes and oceans.
36
u/Smoogs2 Mar 22 '23
Yeah, we use the fish food ones at the lake.
39
u/ProfessorPickaxe Mar 22 '23
TIL there are fish food golf balls
I'm not a golfer, but I'm curious. What's the performance of these balls? Is it similar to normal golf balls?
23
u/Smoogs2 Mar 22 '23
Performance is pretty bad lol but we do it for fun, not for sport. Shortest drive takes a shot. Stuff like that.

7
u/bwforge Mar 22 '23
I couldn't tell you honestly, I'm sure not very good, but considering people hit them into the water I'm sure they're not looking to measure how well they hit a fish food ball lol it's just a fun thing to do.
3
u/Shrimpie47 Mar 22 '23
how do they compare to regular golf balls? or are they just novelty
2
2
u/DavantesWashedButt Mar 22 '23
It’s novelty in the sense that they’re designed for a specific purpose in mind. To be edible to fish after being hit with a golf club. Do they do that? Then optimum performance achieved.

u/whitepinenipples Mar 22 '23
I used to steal range balls from ths golf course as a kid when i lived on the beach. Hit them into the water and when the tide went out we went to collect them. Good times :)

u/Pining4Michigan Mar 21 '23
While you're in there, please retrieve your balls, you clueless wonder!

He’s got a decent backswing but he’s attacking the ball like he’s holding a baseball bat. That’s why his follow-through wound him around like that lol idk I suck at golf
2
u/putin_my_ass Mar 22 '23
He was probably showing off for the video and attempted to put more power into the swing which threw him off balance.
My dad was an instructor, he always emphasized tempo over power: you have to just let the swing go naturally and when you nail the tempo that ball will absolutely take-off without needing extra force. Let your shoulders and hip rotation do the work.
It's like hitting the sweet-spot on a baseball bat. If you contact on the right spot you can hit a home-run without tearing your back muscles out.

u/RecoverMaleficent944 Mar 21 '23
This could also go under oddly satisfying for me. I love watching a rich old white fuck bite the dust
3
u/mobsterpal Mar 22 '23
Wow imagine if you replace white with any other race, would that comment seem ok? Also how tf do you know he’s rich. White and old = rich?
7
u/RecoverMaleficent944 Mar 22 '23
Wow you’re a loser. I’m white so I can say white. I wouldn’t say any other race but I appreciate you being the Reddit race police. White+old+golf = rich. Poor people don’t play golf but if they do, they’re not practicing on a floating golf mat. You’re an idiot for real

I could put this video on replay all day. The only thing that would have been better is if he smashed his head wide open on the way over.

What is this bizarre mister Miyagi shit? Is this like part if his golf training montage? Is he gonna end up dual wielding clubs?
4
u/darrstr Mar 22 '23
The only thing that would make this ok was if the ball rebounded off a boat and hit him first. Then he hit his head on the other dock.

u/DooganC Mar 21 '23
Not a great swing, but the dismount was awful.
This is the kind of guy who pees on toilet seats.

I want to say r/PraiseTheCameraMan, but I can't help believing that in this case we're seeing the work of a camera woman, specifically the wife of the golfing dervish.

u/Nizzemancer Mar 21 '23
He felt inspired when he watched the boat-balancing scene in "Karate kid" and figured karate and golf was similar.

Serves him right for polluting the water with golf balls.

u/putin_my_ass Mar 22 '23
I hate these people so much. I live on one of the Great Lakes and every storm washes a bunch of golf balls up on the beach. Fucking assholes.

He swung it pretty good .... right off the edge and into the water. 6 out of 10 BC form was off.

This is why you use 6 barrels instead of 4 for more stability if you plan to golf off a platform

(In Mr. Miyagi's voice) Danielson, You remember lesson about balance? Lesson not just karate only. Lesson for whole life. Whole life have a balance. (Pointing at golfer). His life? Not so much balance!

u/kbabaseballchi Mar 22 '23
2 things wrong with this. It was bound to happen and aren't golf balls expensive?
1

u/itstrueitsdamntrue Mar 22 '23
Slightly off balance, swinging from outside in will cause a slice and inconsistent striking, def suggest getting lessons.

That looks staged af. There was an actual pause between the swing and his exaggerated "fall"
