Need help for a project - What is Nicaragua's most iconic cult film?
I'm working on a list of every country's most iconic cult film (list here: https://boxd.it/n5ZFs) and wondered if anyone could help me figure out Nicaragua's entry. I'm looking for a film that might not be well-known outside the country's borders. Perhaps it's a film everyone knows, and is hugely popular only to Nicaraguan audiences, even if it wasn't popular with critics. Or maybe it's a film that wasn't well-received by audiences or critics, but has gained a cult following in the years since its release. Any suggestions would be most welcome!

Nice coffee, bakeries and breakfast nooks in Granada
Hi! I’ll be living in Granada for the next two months and am looking for places were I can relax and or have some nice baked goods on my days off from work. Do any of you know any places with good vibes and good food were I can visit during my time there? I have already tried Kathy’s and The Garden Cafe so maybe some options other than that. Thank you so much in advance!

Last minute trip to Nicaragua, recommendations where to stay?
I just decided yesterday to fly into nicaragua on the 17th for a week... I like to fly by the seat of my pants and live in the moment..
Where are some really cool places to stay that aren't necessarily expensive? I booked something in managua but have quickly learned that it's better to leave managua and see the country.
Not sure where I'm heading specifically yet, so open to suggestions.
I definitely plan on going towards Leon and Granada at least.
Thank you!
Edit: I appreciate all your responses and you all seem very wonderful and nice and makes me even more excited to come check out your country :) thank you!

Coffee permit?
I am considering exporting coffee from Nicaragua and would like to visit with producers that can handle a lot of volume. I asked an associate to visit the producers on my behalf but he said he is not allowed as he doesn't have the required permit. Does anyone know what permit is needed and how to find more information about this permit?

travel plans adjustment - breaking up the drive from Matagalpa to San Juan del Sur?
Hi there, driving currently in Nicaragua in the north with small kids who are hating my attempts to walk towns and hike mountains... planning on going from Matagalpa to San Juan del Sur, and would like to break up the drive over a few days with a night at a nice AirConditioned hotel along the way... Any recommendations?
We're driving economy, no 4x4, so much of our wishes with the north trip have been washed away by the weather forecast. :)
I'm planning later weekend trips to some of the more common destinations recommended (granada, ometepe, masaya) so not sure if I should visit granada twice for example, or spend a night near masaya now just to go to the volcano at night and get back to a hotel nearby.)
starting to go crazy with options, so any advice welcome!

Where in Miami is the Nicaraguan community located?
Is there an equivalent of a “little Havana” for the Nicaraguan community in Miami? Or if I wanted to eat a traditional Nicaraguan meal or treat where would I go? Thank you!

I Recently Read About The Sandinista Revolution On One Of Chomsky's Books And So I Am Curious How Things Turned Out.
From what I can gather the initial revolution temporarily succeeded in the 80s but after prolonged US intervention and the Sandinistas losing the goodwill of the people, they were forced to step down.
After that the Sandinistas win in the 2007 election and have been in control of the country since. The new Sandinistas from what I know are a lot less revolutionary though this time around and seem to have purged most left wing elements of the party.
So my question is, how are things now in Nicaragua and is there any hope for things to turn around and the Sandinistas to become revolutionary again?

Money exchange
I’m leaving Managua early tomorrow morning, I need to change Cordobas to US dollars. Should I exchange in the airport in Managua or wait to get to the US? What’s the better rate? I fly into San Francisco.
UPDATE: I’ve got an amazing driver! She showed up at my hotel at 9:15pm, drove me to AMPM, and she deposited my cordobas into her account, went to another store and withdrew but ATM ran out of dollars, so she drove to another ATM and withdrew the rest, paid under $10 in bank fees, then another 600 cordobas for driving us around for an hour!! More than happy with her service. If you’re ever in Managua, and need a ride, DM me for her number

Persona salió a Costa Rica, con visa, en 2018. Ganó protección complementario en Costa Rica. Vino a Nicaragua a renovar documentos. Cuando quiere regresar a Costa Rica, habrá que enseñar el documento de protección para poder salir de Nicaragua, y si si, puede causar problemas?

Landing in Managua, Safety
We are considering visiting Nicaragua this summer with our three young children. We’ve been told “just land during the day” and you’ll be safe. Our final destination would be 2.5 hours from Managua.
Most flights were considering land around 4 or 5pm. Would it be dangerous to leave the airport in Managua after landing at those times or is it people being overly cautious with their commentary?
It will be our first visit there. Thanks!
Edit: We decided to book earlier flights, will arrive around Noon now. I appreciate all the feedback!
