A photographer took a picture just as this couple threw ashes into a river. He asked them who it was. They answered their beloved dog of 15 years. The photographer asked for permission to edit their photo and this was what he sent them. Helping Others

Listen to Sleep in the Heat by PUP. It's the saddest song about a pet dying ever written
"Yesterday I went back to my apartment
To see how you've been holding up
You hadn't been eating, I thought you were sleeping
But you're not waking up
And I want you to know that I'd spend every bit of my
Pitiful savings and loans
Just to see you again
But I know I wont"

You just caused an immediate tear out of my eye and I've never had that happen before
4
u/being-weird Mar 22 '23
Is this Lemony Snickitt?
6
Mar 22 '23
I don't think so... I mean maybe, but I found it when coping with the death of two pets in a year (one was my 18 year old cat and the other was my little senior dog with health problems) 😞
7
u/being-weird Mar 22 '23
I just looked it up and it says this was originally written by someone called David Ellsworth. He's credited as the author of World War II, but I'm assuming that's a book.

I'll be using this soon. My dog is only 6 years old but was diagnosed with Lymphoma last year. He's gone through chemo like a champ but we know the cancer will always return. I'm not sure I'll be able to walk through the doors of my house the day I help him cross that rainbow bridge

I got pretty teary eyed reading your comment. I still miss my Wheezie (Louise, dog) and Monster (cat).
I'm so sorry about your dog! You are lucky to have one another. You sound like a great dog owner.
Quick story.. lol--- I knew Wheezie was slowing down and I wanted to give here the best of days that I could. Every weekend she would get to go to the doggy bakery and pick out whatever she wanted. Think dehydrated chicken feet, pig feet, duck heads, as well as cookies and pup cup ice creams. She picked up a cow esophagus that day. We get it home, I'm doing something in another room and I walk in the bedroom a few minutes later and she's got this fucking esophagus on my bed. 🤣 Threw the esophagus on her bed and changed the sheets.
My Wheezie loved to get in the trash. She'll keep your pup company when the day comes and show them where the good trash is. Until then, I hope you have many, many more days ahead with your dog.♥️

Damn I was fine until I got to this comment.
Two years ago one of my cats got really sick. Got her to the vet and found out she had Bobcat fever. Her liver was shutting down and the vet tried all she could but ultimately we were too late.
2
Mar 22 '23
I had never heard of Bobcat fever...sounds terrible!
I'm sorry she's not with you anymore.
2
u/LadyFarquaad2 Mar 23 '23
I hadn't either until then. And the bad thing was we took her to two different vets and the first one just said it was a toothache. But she wasn't getting any better so we took her to another and by then it was too late. So I feel they're partially to blame.

The real story is so much better AND actually credits the photographer/artist.

So much better? this is the same post but said what the dog and photographers name was....spoiler, Dog is Timber and photographer is Cecelie
→ More replies12
u/boo_goestheghost Mar 22 '23
The difference is this story invents some coincidence where the photographer happens to catch this photo whereas in the real story the dog’s owners seek out the photographer
3
u/Canada_Checking_In Mar 22 '23
In the real story they simply ask someone to edit the photo, and that is if you believe that story
My point is, they could have just said the "extra" detail, which was almost nothing.

Holy fuck we spread my grandpa's ashes and the wind abruptly changed direction and blew that shit all over us, just like that scene from the Big Lebowski. Fuckin hilarious and a lil gross

Yep. Just six months ago:

And that post was deleted, and it was probably a repost as well.

Also the ash is still visible in the mirror and the dog way too low/high. But it is enough for Karma farming

This is absolutely beautiful but it made me very sad lol. We have a 12 and 11 year old GSD and they are definitely getting on in age. Phife was my first dog so I'm going to be an emotional train wreck Definitely a bittersweet photo that I'm glad I saw

I lost my first dog (boxer) at 7 of osteosarcoma…. This broke me REAL good for a while. Have a golden retriever now who consumes our attention and time who without a doubt will leave an even bigger hole. God I love having a dog but god damn losing them is the absolute fucking worst

u/snkeolr Mar 22 '23
I lost my dog in November 2021 and I still miss him as much as I did when he first passed. How were you able to get another dog? Did it help you move on? My wife keeps looking at dogs and I just don’t feel ready, but there are so many dogs that need rescued and I feel selfish.

u/benwhilson Mar 22 '23
Nah. At first I was like aw that's a heart throbber but then I immediately thought well it definitely doesn't look natural for a couple to be chucking their dog into the river
2
u/MikGusta Mar 22 '23
All I can think about is the Hulk Hogan video where a guy throws a dog into the river in the background.

Do you think he got a photo of their dog for the reflection, or just put in a photo of any old dog?

I love my dog dearly. It’s just the two of us and he’s my baby. I dread the day I have to say goodbye to him.
The picture makes me chuckle a little bit tho. He hates water and would probably be sulking at me from above for having this picture made of him.

Because it's badly done shoopsies. You can see the man's entire shoulder in the "reflection" buuut...
I understand the statement it's making, but to someone who actually looks at the details, it's very poorly made.

This is beautiful. My family is on the verge of losing our 2 dogs (one is 15 and the other just got diagnosed with terminal cancer) and I'd love to be able to honor them with a photo like this. The 15 year old, an adorable and ever friendly yellow lab, loved swimming more than anything except food and tennis balls. A photo like this would be perfect for her. Thanks for sharing
